Alpha Mountaineering Feedback

Scotland has some incredible scrambling, rock climbing and mountaineering to offer. Whether it's summer or winter there is always some great mountaineering to be done.

On this page you can see what previous clients have had to say about their time with Alpha Mountaineering. If you have had a day out climbing, scrambling or walking with Alpha Mountaineering then please contact us with your feedback.

Email from Ian Fleming 4 June 08:
Nick,

Thanks for the photos...Fantastic.

Thank you for a brilliant three (or in my case two and a bit!) days. It is the first time on Skye that we have had a guide who has listened to what we wanted to do rather than following his own agenda

It is also great to be coached and educated rather than just dragged over the tops; we have learnt a lot from you in three days.

I certainly (and I know Alastair feels the same) felt safe in your hands.

I would have no hestitation in recommending you to anyone and have already sent an email to some of my friends who have an interest in exploring Skye (and indeed the Ben and Glencoe) on the end of a rope.

Thank you, again.
With best wishes,
Ian

Dear Nick,

All three of us thoroughly enjoyed our recent two days with you in Skye.
Your expertise was much appreciated and we had the bonus of a winter skills course in the superb alpine conditions which we encountered!

Please convey our thanks to Donald for his fine contribution to the proceedings and as usual we will have no hesitation in recommending your services to others.

Best Wishes, Martin

Nick,

Thanks for two brilliant days on the hills working on winter skills last week.
We covered much more than I expected and you passed on so much information not just for winter but year round.
The way you conducted everything was very professional yet so much fun.

Hello Nick,

Well done for running a really professional course. Your infectious enthusiasm for the sport combined with your obvious skills & knowledge of the techniques, equipment, route options, ensured you really helped us get the most out of the winter environment and during our 3 days. We'll be back for more next year.....and that's a threat!

Best regards,

Nigel Dibbo

5 Feb 08:

Nick,

Thanks a lot for organising the course on Saturday ... we had a great day, although perhaps too much snow for some aspects.

The whole group wanted to pass on our thanks to Kev - they were unanimously complementary about his relaxed teaching style, his responsiveness to the varied group and developing weather conditions, and his overall approachable flexible style.

We went on to have a go at Meall a Bhuachaille on Sunday, but turned back with the wind after an amphibian trudge up to Ryvoan - but as Kev kept saying, the hill will be there next time.

Thanks again, see you in a year for the next level?

Robin

Email from Gemma Waterworth after a day of winter skills 4 Feb 08:
Hi Nick,

My name is Gemma and I have just come back from a weekend in Aviemore on one of your winter skills courses. I just wanted to say a massive thank you to you and in particular Kev, our instructor, for making the course such a great experience. A great time was had by the whole group and I believe this wouldn't have been the case without the knowledge and experience demonstrated by yourselves as an organisation and by Kev as an instructor.

I hope that we will very soon take part in one of your other courses and I certainly will be recommending you to anyone else I know that is interested in doing any similar courses.
Many thanks again! Gemma

Nick,

Just wanted to drop you a line to say thanks for a good day on Friday, I found it useful, instructive and fun. All in all a top day, gave me just what I asked for 'a good insight into to some harder terrain.'
Following on from Friday and feeling confident, we went and bagged two first ascents in the Southern Sector of Lochnagar.
Anyway thanks again.

Cheers Will.

11 Jan 08:

Dear Nick,

Thank you for two very worthwhile days in the Cairngorms. All three of us were very pleased by the amount that you managed to squeeze in – we covered much more than we had anticipated, and all agree that everything we learnt will be very useful in the future. The day after the course, David C and I and another member of our group walked to Ben Macdui, then scrambled down the Fiacaill Buttress ridge – using all of the skills that you taught us (apart from emergency procedures!). We also enjoyed a very white and windy walk to Braeriach later on in the week – it definitely felt like Scottish winter! So thanks again for excellent tuition, and an amazing time in the Cairngorms!
Thanks again,

Alex

Nick,

Well, I am back in the US and back to work today. This is an unfortunate development but, necessary. Just wanted to thank you for the great day on the hill. Our success was a testament to your skill and professionalism, it also helps that you were a cool guy and fun to talk with.
Good Luck in winter 2008 and if you are ever out this way give me a shout.

Hi Nick,

It was a great birthday surprise from my girlfriend to go climbing in these awesome mountains. We had some lucky and amazing experiences that made it unforgettable; like the early vulture sitting, the 'brochenspectre' at the summit, the six fighter jets that zoomed passed as we made our way back to the car, and on the second day the large heard of deer led by their stag high up on the mountainside. Many thanks Nick for making it a great birthday. We hope to be back soon!

The pic is of the left hand start to goat tack gully which was great fun. We did that after quickly popping up central gulley at about 10 on sunday. Great fun and not sure i would have felt upto it without picking your brains on saturday! Cheers for your help, Matt P.s. sneaked climb magazine into a particulary boring maths lecture this morning and saw you had got a mention for climbing gargoyle wall, nice one!
