Himachal Pradesh Indian Himalaya

Off to the Indian Himalaya

I am heading off to the Indian Himalaya later today where I will be leading a trekking and mountaineering trip. We will trek through the Spiti Valley and attempt some peaks near the Parang La.

Looking forward to some great trekking and mountaineering during this 3 week trip in the far north of India. The Spiti Valley is in Ladakh which is near the Tibet border in the region of Himachal Pradesh. It is shown in dark pink on the map on the left.

Summit success on Ben Nevis

Charity Walk on Ben Nevis

Yesterday I was organising the marshals for the British Heart Foundation 3 peaks challenge.

With an early start on Ben Nevis yesterday over 150 individuals set out on a long weekend of hill walking. After Ben Nevis they headed south to attempt Snowdon and Scafell Pike. So that at the end of the weekend many folk will have climbed the highest summits in Scotland, England and Wales and raised lots of money for the BHF.

On the Ben we had good weather with light winds, no rain and some cloud cover to stop folk getting over heated.

Coire an Lochain buttresses with the great slab below

Dodging the thunder storms

Yesterday I escaped the thunder and lightning and torrential downpours for an evening climb in the Cairngorms. Mike and I had the buttresses of Coire an Lochain to ourselves. There are still some patches of snow hanging in there in the North facing gullies.

It's not often that you are climbing in Scotland at 1200m at 9pm in shorts and T.shirt, but last night was one of those special occasions.
